Questions that need answers.....

I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday asking for advice on how to deal with my hormonal teenager and her monthly visitor. Any parent that has had to deal with this knows that the week prior and the week of this “visit” can make you question your whole life’s journey. Lol Like I said last week, I don’t know how to raise my kids, so along with Holy Spirit I often seek wise counsel.

During the conversation my friend said something so profound to me, she said “Be as gentle with her as you want Holy Spirit to be with you.” This has stuck with me since yesterday and it just kept expanding into so many other areas.

Sometimes frustration gets in the way of being gentle with other people especially when they are the source of your frustration to begin with. But is that really a valid excuse? Christ died and rose from the dead and the same power that allowed that to happen lives in us by way of Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11). So how often are using that power to be gentle and meek with those around you? Are people really tasting the fruit of the Spirit when they are around you? (Galatians 5:22-23)

It’s so easy to let the flesh rule when we don’t practice walking in the spirit. Let’s commit to being intentional about walking, speaking, and being quiet in the spirit as we encounter others this week.

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.” Galatians 5:16-17
